BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Palmer lifts Pinecrest to region win

Nick Palmer’s steal and 3-point play with four seconds left gave Pinecrest Academy a 54-51 victory at George Walton Academy on Friday in a Region 8-A game.

Palmer led the Paladins (5-10, 4-1) with 22 points to go along with six assists. With starters Sean Flanigan, Adam Guard and Michael Bruckner in foul trouble in the second half, Nick Barwick came off the bench to grab five rebounds and hit a big 3.

Pinecrest played at Hebron Christian on Saturday, which ended too late for this edition.

Lambert 75, Centennial 68: Four players scored in double figures and the Longhorns got a big Region 6-AAAAAA win Friday at home.

Tanner Hall led the Longhorns (11-3, 6-0) with 21 points. Joe Bates had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Logan Bush added 13 points and Jake Morris had 12 points.

Before the game, Bush was honored for eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Lambert hosted Roswell on Saturday, a game that ended too late for this edition.


South 41, Chattahoochee 34:The Lady War Eagles got a big Region 6-AAAAAA win Friday on the road.

South (14-2, 5-1) hosted Forsyth Central on Saturday, a game ended too late for this edition.

Centennial 55, Lambert 44:The Lady Longhorns couldn’t keep up with the Lady Knights in a Region 6-AAAAAA loss Friday at home.

Lambert fell to 5-9 overall, 1-5 in the region.
