Local football recruits sign on with colleges

A handful of Forsyth County high school seniors will continue their football careers at the next level.

The first official step on that journey came Wednesday, National Signing Day, or will in the two-month period to follow when seniors can ink national letters of intent.

Here’s a list of football players that have officially chosen a college as of Wednesday.

West Forsyth

Nick Brown, long snapper — walk-on at Texas A&M

Forsyth Central

Jacob Nesmith, defensive end — Air Force; signed a certificate of intent, a non-binding agreement that means the recruit will stay committed to the football team through the Air Force's appointment process

Lambert

David Broadus, quarterback — Richmond; signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning

J.C. Barefield, center/long snapper — Jacksonville State; signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning

North Forsyth

Cole Allison, kicker — Georgia Southern; remains committed but is still working out scholarship details with the coaching staff in Statesboro

Pinecrest Academy

Jacob Carr, long snapper — North Greenville; signed Wednesday afternoon to play football and run track and field

Preston Stafford, defensive line — Johns Hopkins; signed Wednesday afternoon
