Prep baseball playoffs: Central, South advance

The first round of the state high school baseball playoffs got under way Friday with four teams from Forsyth County in action.

All four of the best-of-three series opened with doubleheaders. A third game, if necessary, will be Saturday.

South Forsyth, the lone local team playing at home, swept its doubleheader from Heritage-Conyers to advance to the second round.

Forsyth Central did the same on the road against Winder-Barrow.

After dropping their respective first games, both Lambert and North Forsyth rallied to claim the nightcaps and force a deciding third game on Saturday.

 

Friday’s results:

 

* Heritage-Conyers (Region 8-AAAA No. 3 seed) at South Forsyth (Region 7-AAAA No. 2 seed)

Game 1: South 4, Heritage 2   Final

Game 2: South 6, Heritage 5   Final

South wins series 2-0; next faces Greenbrier

 

* Forsyth Central (Region 7-AAAA No. 3 seed) at Winder-Barrow (Region 8-AAAA No. 2 seed)

Game 1: Central 4, Winder-Barrow 1   Final

Game 2: Central 6, Winder-Barrow 2   Final

Central wins series 2-0; next faces Lee County or Wayne County

 

* Lambert (Region 7-AAAA No. 4 seed) at No. 2 Loganville (Region 8-AAAA No. 1 seed)

Game 1: Loganville 6, Lambert 2   Final

Game 2: Lambert 8, Loganville 2   Final

Game 3: Loganville 13, Lambert 0   Final

 

* North Forsyth (Region 6-AAAAA No. 4 seed) at No. 6 Lassiter (Region 5-AAAAA No. 1 seed)

Game 1: Lassiter 3, North 0   Final

Game 2: North 7, Lassiter 5   Final

Game 3:Lassiter 10, North 3   Final
