Lambert volleyball snatches six wins on Saturday

The Lambert volleyball team played six matches on Saturday in the SVC Kickoff Klassik in Alpharetta, beating Mt. Pisgah, Troup County, Warner Robins, Roswell, Milton and Northside-Columbus. The Longhorns only lost one set during the day, to Milton.

Ally Hall led the Longhorns with 65 assists on the day, to go along with 51 kills and 32 digs. Bella Tolone had 53 kills and 16 aces, and Claire Richey had 29 kills and nine blocks for Lambert.


North Forsyth played four matches in the Arcadia Invitational at home on Saturday, beating Mount Vernon Presbyterian, Oconee County and Mountain View before losing in three sets to Northgate.

Kate Perryman led the Raiders with 37 kills on the day, and Mary Ellen Enright was close behind with 35. Anna Grace Cheatham handled the bulk of the Raiders’ assists, totaling 92 on the day.


West Forsyth played four matches at the Arcadia Invitational on Saturday, beating Gainesville and Greenbrier before losing to Chamblee and Kennesaw Mountain.

North, Central softball fall in Saturday matchups

The North Forsyth softball team lost two games on Saturday, 5-0 to North Gwinnett and 8-4 to Northside-Columbus.

Mallorie Black and Maggie McBrayer both had two-hit games in the Raiders’ first loss, and McKayla Cothran had two hits against Northside. Katie Jordan and Hailey Mize had triples against the Patriots.


Forsyth Central fell 13-3 to Walnut Grove on Saturday. Caraline Bryant had a double for Forsyth Central, and Grace Kiser had a two-run home run for the Bulldogs.

West boys and girls take titles at Hoya 2 Mile

The West Forsyth boys and girls cross country teams both finished at the top of their respective team standings in the Hoya 2 Mile Invitational on Saturday in Acworth.

Jeremy Ericson and Reece Cato paced the Wolverines in the boys race, finishing fourth and fifth overall, respectively, in 10:13.35 and 10:17.65. Isabel Ptacek finished third in the girls race in 12:26.09, and Haley Tillery, Rachel Murray and Ava Krogman were fifth, sixth and seventh.


The North Forsyth boys finished third and the girls fifth in the Cherokee County XC Classic on Saturday in Canton.

Caleb Hall (second) and Josh Schunk (fourth) had top-10 finishes for the Raiders, in 16:39.70 and 17:09.80, and freshman Ava Carroll finished eighth overall in the girls race, in 20:54.
