North Forsyth 3, Cherokee 1

CANTON – Tyler Fairchild threw five innings of one-hit baseball as the Raiders won a non-region game Monday on the road.

Fairchild struck out six for North (1-0). Brandon Coury earned the save.

Tyler Sheley and Kyle Martin both went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Colin Sanders had an RBI and Evan Johnson had a double.

Pinecrest Academy 8, Galloway 2

Ryan McCarthy went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and two RBI as the Paladins won a non-region game Monday at home.

Patrick O’Rourke got the win for Pinecrest (1-0), allowing no earned runs over four innings with six strikeouts.

Micky Mangan was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, while Caleb Bohn went 2-for-3 with a double.

South Forsyth 8, Walton 4

Landon Sims pitched four shut-out innings and hit a 2-run home run to lead the War Eagles to a non-region victory Monday at home against the defending Class 6A state champion Raiders.

Sims allowed just one hit and struck out seven to earn the win for South (1-0), while also going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Bradley Prince Jr. went 3-for-4 for the War Eagles, while Ben Ferrer was 2-for-4 with a double, Brett Graczyk had two hits and Matt Bapst was 1-for-3.

West Forsyth 3, Woodstock 2

A three-run fifth inning was the difference as the Wolverines held off a late rally Monday for a non-region victory at home.

Four pitchers combined for West (1-0): Hank Flood (three innings), Jacob Tate (two innings), Tanner Chafin (three strikeouts) and Ryan Ferguson.

The Wolverines got hits from Zach Burns, Hunter Martin, Indiana Stanley and Connor Weldy.
